Offshore Sector – Norway

Case Study:

Manufacturing activities in support of the offshore sector have their own specific challenges – the highest focus on Health and Safety is always a priority, whilst the need to meet strict project deadlines and at the same time to remain flexible in support of the overall project are critical.

Keyshift Associates worked with a major supplier to the Offshore Sector in support of their pipe coating operation. The application of manufacturing principles to physically large scale, yet repetitive manufacturing processes delivered significant benefits in terms of increased throughput and as a consequence allowed the business to meet its financial targets.

The following tools were used to execute on this project:

  • Process Mapping – to allow focus on most effective cost: benefit impactors
  • Bottleneck Management - to ensure plant delivered at planned run-rates.
  • Quality Root Cause Analysis – to eradicate significant rework detractors to the operation.
  • TPM processes – to maximise plant uptime in support of aggressive ramp targets

In addition Keyshift worked the site management team to develop their ability to lead the business to increased levels of performance and profitability. In addition to Roles and Responsibilities, Management Review processes and KPI roll-out, Keyshift executives also worked with the team on a series of team-building exercises to ensure significantly enhanced teamwork and results in what can be a highly challenging environment.

Keyshift Associates worked with a major manufacturer of personal mobile devices to support reorganisation and development of the existing management team – utilising our ‘Leadership Toolkit’ – and worked with the local team to deliver on the execution of significant cost reduction opportunities across the business including:
